Do’s and Don’ts

Recovery Rules

Do’s & Don’ts After Surgery

Essential guidelines to protect your eyes, prevent complications, and ensure optimal healing during your recovery journey.

WHAT TO DO

Recommended practices for safe healing

  • Apply Cold Compresses

Use ice packs wrapped in a clean cloth for 10-15 minutes at a time during the first 48 hours to minimize swelling.

  • Elevate Your Head

Keep your head elevated with 2–3 pillows while sleeping or resting to reduce bruising and fluid retention.

  • Wear Dark Sunglasses

Protect your sensitive eyes from direct sunlight, bright lights, dust, and wind whenever you go outdoors.

  • Follow Drops Routine Strictly

Administer prescribed antibiotic and lubricating eye drops exactly as scheduled by your doctor.

  • Rest & Take It Easy

Get plenty of rest and give your eyes adequate breaks from screens and prolonged reading.

WHAT NOT TO DO

Activities & habits to strictly avoid

  • Do NOT Rub or Touch Your Eyes

Avoid touching or pressing on your eyelids. Rubbing can disrupt delicate sutures and cause infection.

  • Do NOT Engage in Heavy Exercise

Avoid strenuous workouts, heavy lifting, or bending forward below the waist for at least 2 weeks.

  • Do NOT Wear Eye Makeup

Refrain from applying mascara, eyeliner, or concealer around the eye area until cleared by your surgeon.

  • Do NOT Wear Contact Lenses

Switch to prescription glasses; avoid contact lenses for at least 10–14 days post-procedure.

  • Do NOT Swim or Submerge in Water

Keep your eyes dry while showering and avoid hot tubs, pools, or saunas during the initial recovery phase.
