Day of Surgery Guide

Everything you need to know before arriving for your procedure. Following these instructions ensures maximum safety, comfort, and a smooth surgical experience.

Step 1 • Morning Preparation

Before Leaving Home

  • Clean Face & Skin: Wash your face thoroughly. Do not apply any makeup, creams, eye ointments, or facial lotions.
  • Fasting Protocol: Follow exact fasting guidelines provided during pre-op assessment (usually no heavy food 6 hours prior).
  • Comfortable Clothing: Wear loose-fitting, front-zippered or button-down shirts so you don't pull clothing over your face after surgery.
  • Leave Valuables: Remove all jewelry, piercings, contact lenses, and hair accessories.
Step 2 • Essential Checklist

What to Bring With You

  • Identification & Documentation: Government ID, medical insurance card, and signed consent forms.
  • Dark Sunglasses: Essential to protect your sensitive eyes from sunlight and wind immediately after procedure.
  • Current Medications: Bring a full list (or original bottles) of any routine daily medications you take.
  • A Designated Companion: You will NOT be allowed to drive home alone; arrange an adult escort to assist you.
Step 3 • Upon Arrival

At the Surgery Center

  • Timely Check-in: Arrive 30–45 minutes prior to your scheduled slot for administrative check-in.
  • Pre-Op Vitals Check: Our medical team will verify your blood pressure, temperature, and answer final questions.
  • Surgeon Consultation: Brief final review with your oculoplastic surgeon before entering the operating suite.
