You may shower from the neck down 24 hours after surgery. However, keep your face completely dry for the first 48 hours. After 48 hours, you may gently wash your lower face, but avoid direct water pressure or soap on your eyelid incisions until sutures are removed.
Yes, temporary dryness, tearing, or mild sensitivity to light are very common during the first 1 to 2 weeks. This occurs due to temporary changes in tear film distribution. Using your prescribed lubricating eye drops regularly will help soothe these symptoms.
Light walking is encouraged immediately. Avoid strenuous exercise, heavy lifting (over 5 kg), bending over below the waist, or vigorous cardio for at least 2 weeks. Increased blood pressure can cause bleeding or sudden swelling in healing tissues.
Protecting your scars from UV rays is critical for optimal healing. Wear dark sunglasses and a wide-brimmed hat whenever outdoors for the first 3 months. Once incisions are fully closed, apply a mineral-based sunscreen (SPF 30+) daily.
